As much as I liked her when she is green, I think she is cuter now that she is pretty much black/light brown and white. She looks like a little adult.

Well she is still looks stunning, do you know which clutch she is from? Mine is from Roy x Purdy.

It escapes me. I never got an answer from Bobby when I asked him. I forget the names of his tegu pairs but i bet I could weed it out. Riley was much smaller than most tegus when I got her so i assumed she was from a different clutch than Roy x Purdy which most people get theirs from.

@HIPIZZLE- I don't think I could rename her. I would just forget what I named her and it would be confusing. I always seem to get female animals now that I think of it.

nice tegu...mind if I ask a general tegu question? Do ALL species of tegu need plants in their diet? I would love if I could find a completely carnivorous one whose diet would not change with age.

The golden tegu (Tupinambis teguixin), is a complete carnivore.
As juvenile it eats mostly insects, changing to little mamals, fish and herps when bigger.
And though the Argentine is a beauty, the golden is IMO more so.
But yours is a stunner, Citri! :D

I'd get a tegu if they weren't so frickin' expensive! They look so cool and are way more docile than monitors etc

Not that expensive, I got mine for only $150 and that included the shipping.

I forgot about golds/columbians being strictly carnivorea and thanks :D

any updated pix?

I'll try to get some pictures this weekend and upload them.

Here are some pictures, I measured her at 19". She has a fully belly from her favorite meal of chicken hearts and gizzards. I have a feeling she'll be hibernating soon because she is spending a good few hours napping under the substrate during the day.

Tis the season,

My tegu barely comes out anymore and has gotten even lazier. She sleeps like half the day most days.
