He was about 6" when he gave in , few days starved and slowly but surely he started taking them :) much quicker than my last jar he was so stubborn hahaha

Thanks Evz, i have one thats about 3.5 inches. I'll hold off on pellet training until he gets a little larger. The good news is he bites for hikari sticks... But shortly after he will spit them out

At least he's going for them that's a start , try seasoning his other foods with crushed pellet to get him used to the flavour then its just a case of him being able to crush the pellets comfortably
Good luck

To pellet train get a few tiger barbs and feed them pellets. The eating activity will get your jar to try some of the pellets. Worked on my silver aro when I still had it. Barbs are fast as sheeeet too, should be able to survive for a while

My jars have never been in a solo tank I've always had catfish no problem as long as there not snack size ( my old one ate a rtc half its size ) , I had a jaguar cichlid with my other jar they did fight but he was the only cichlid that would stand up for itself against him , all the others including some nice flowerhorns either got killed or rehomed , its pretty much a case of trying tankmates out , I did have a big pacu at one point he did get beaten up occasionally but was big enough to take a few knocks
If you try and get it into a community early on it'll help socialise it with chosen tankmates when its small it'll give you half a chance , not that this always works either look what happened to my DAT with this latest one :banghead:
Its a bit of a game of roulette keeping jardini but once its settled in its an amazing fish to keep you'll never get bored ;):)

i thought it would be alright because it worked out with my green aro and dat but a jar and a green is 2 diff fishes
sorry for your loss

As a jardini keeper it came as no surprise to me mate :banghead: it was always a gamble tbh , he seems OK with the current tankmates for now but who knows what's down the line some work some dont .
Here's a current PIC of him today uploadfromtaptalk1404672029473.jpguploadfromtaptalk1404672040712.jpguploadfromtaptalk1404672071765.jpg
