They will be fine in there for quite some time. And who knows, one or two may weed them selves out before all is said and done and you will have even more time till you need to get a bigger tank....Good luck and nice job on taking the advice given rather than being a DB....

For life in a heavily filtered 55 I would think 3 would be the max and thats still ignoring the 30 gals per piranha rule of thumb...some times you can get away with a small bit of overstocking as long as you are willing to do the extra work.

Not a bad choice at all . I think 6 will be fine in there for about 4-6 months. that is when they do the most growing. Also if you don't want a bunch of people telling you to keep cichlids insted. try posting on the P forum. you won't find as many people wanting you to get rid of the fish you want.
