Got tempted by the Wolf's devil!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
but I was referred to the red tapajos thou! :D
I've only ever seen a pic of one as an adult, so agree with kno4te, wait till he gets bigger to be sure, it looks a little promising as the fins are red and body seems to have a hint of a red sheen, but can't be for sure. If it is you are lucky.

Just curious, what makes you say that, haven't heard anyone with a more recent and decent amount of knowledge say that since the old threads when they were kept less etc. now that they're kept more we hear lots of success stories. I haven't heard of a bad story in a while quite honestly...

I haven't been on the forums for a very long time and great to read all these threads around Aimara being kept with others. I have had mine with three large Brycon for a number of years now. Mine is now about 24". He bit a 12" dorado clean in half fairly recently and I regularly get deep gauges in the sides of the Brycon when they get to close. The Brycon are about 15" I would say. He will 100% attack any maintenance equipment I put near him and would without doubt attack my hand if I let him. He flares at me through the glass.

Share some pics and tank shots J jelly !

Red tapajos for reference. My aimara behaves very similarly, will snap at any net or equipment or hand if I'm taunting. Constant flaring through the glass but leaves both bichers I have in there with him completely alone. Also leaves the temensis I have in there and sometimes has a scuffle with the Mala. However the dorado I have housed with him are nemesis enemies and they go at it from time to time. They are around similar size and the dorado is too accurate with his bites that always end up damaging the aimaras eyes. After I've placed the peacock bass in there as a dither, the aggression has died down almost altogether.

One of the OG's is back lol nice to see you, I read all of your threads growing up and a lot of ones you contributed to. And so the old set up is still up and running succesfully? And that's a bit of a size difference so makes sense, I'd say all the successful comms have been all similar sized or larger fish than the aimara, and only way specimens were perfect was if it was fairly packed, and even then sometimes they'd post a fish that got beat up randomly. But it is good that we are seeing people succeed in keeping them in a community set up. Is it still in the 8' tank or have you upgraded since? +1 for pics :)

Holy grail wolf lol. And my odoe and curu were like that I found adding my sun cat helped a lot, now they don't only target eachother, they also target eachother less altogether. He's a good 13" right now while the odoe may be closer to 11-12", definitly not less than 11 though. Good to hear your having better luck

Wow. First pic I have seen of a red tapajos. Really is a nice color. I know these never come to the states but I am curious what the price tag on them generally is.

+1 hopefully one day they'll be available here like other variants

The going price for a red tapajos here for the juvenile size I posted is around 3500-4000 usd, which is about 5x cost of a regular aimara. They are beautiful aren't they? I haven't had the chance to see one in person yet. They are hard to come by.
