went fishing for snook today and found my shrimp being stolen by these guys..

these are mayans right? not red terrors.. im thinking about keeping a few of these feral fish and throwing them in my 55 gallon.. they are really good looking compared to the ones i see in pet shops

actually i did and none of the snook hit them but im gonna retry my strategy next monday as its my next day off.. gonna try to catch some of the tarpon in the same pond as these guys and i heard theres oscars out there too

yeah its not season yet though so i am just fishing some brackish ponds close to my house. blind pass is about a 35 min drive from my house and the ponds i fish that have landlocked snook are about 10 min drive. when season opens ill fish them where i can catch them lol

I've had this same question as well...I caught those when I was in FL...are mayans another name for red terrors?

Louie any thoughts?
 
i did some research and im almost 100% those are mayans and not red terrors. which are actually two different species from two different areas of the world.
 
They are reds the spot doesnt cover the whole tail neck
