I have one of those in my tank I took home from FL w/ me and I still have her 2 years later ... tilapia marie
my first cichlid caught in fl =)
whats up louie!

I was trying to catch Salvini but caught one sample of everything else in that pond instead lol minus jags.

Its funny how different baby talipia look from adults.

I would think tilipa is tough and will fight other fish in a tank?.

i caught three oscars while fishing a springfed lake about 5 mins from my house. i kept all three, two quickly died and i have had the one since he was 5 inches and now hes probably 14-15. all tiger oscars. i have caught many bowfin, which are extremely similar to snakehead

yeah the tilapia was such a pesk in the tank i wanted it in...so she's now in a tank with an oscar whom the've become the best of friends! funny cause when the oscar was smaller, the tilapia would beat on it, had to remove him, then when he got larger, I tried putting them together again, and now they love each other lol

By tiger Oscar you mean they actually have pattern?.

Can you post a pic?

I have only caught drab looking Oscars . Countless but only drab looking. I have heard in some areas they do have color .

" i have caught many bowfin, which are extremely similar to snakehead"

Yes they are similiar and for someone like me who has never caught either and no expert on which is which its hard to tell. I am still not sure it was a snakehead .
The guy who said it was . Was to far away to get a good look he only saw the size and shape of the fish when it came to surface and grabbed my bait ( earthworm)

lol thats funny that they get along. I find the Tilipia same size as Oscars to be mean.

If I had the tank for it would get a Tilipia and a Mayan . There are people around here with private natural ponds in their back yard .

Some of the ponds sizes are about 3 or 4 good size pools and they have nothing in it but mosquito fish :WHOA:. They have no interest in adding cichlids:nilly:.

To me that is a sick waste of a warm water pond.

It was way to hot this summer 105 average daily plus daily massive rains for me to do much fishing .

Now its a cool 90 and no rain in forecast this weekend so might head out PB and Jag fishing this Sat.

do you know the people with the ponds?

I heard on radio its snowing by you. Its in 80s here :) which is a cold front compared to the average 100 plus we had all summer .
80 is nice no complaints.

We went to a BBQ not far from here and guy had a great natural enclosed pond in his yard with NOTHING but mosquito fish.
His wife is a friend of my wife from work . I don't actually know the guy well and could never hang out with a sicko like that.

Can you imagine what a sick mind doesnt stock something like that with PB and/or smaller cichlids like Jags,Oscars, etc :WHOA:.

His neighbor same thing another large and deep pond and only mosquito fish . Granted its their ponds not mine but its just wrong lol.
