He means put the Oscar in another tank, (quarantine) him. I didn't sugges that because I didnt think you'd have a tank large enough besides your main tank.

If you cant quarantine, do what you can. Bump the temp (i say 81-82) he says 86. and dose your main tank with salt. 40-50% WC every day for 3 days. Get the water to 0 0 10-20. And then schedule your water changes and gravel vacs to keep the water at 0 0 10-20

You think its possible this oscar got startled and hit his eye on something while you cleaned the tank ?

It sounded like it happened so suddenly.

I know there were times my bala sharks would rub their eyes on something and their eyes would be very cloudy afterwards.

If thats not possible , then I would say a heavy bio load. Oscars are very dirty fish and gold fish are probanly the biggest water polluters.

The best thing you can do is water change. Clean water is most important. Aquarium salt also helps improve gill function. Jack the heat up to speed up metabolism which in turn speed healing process. Keep the oscar well fed. Food is nutrients for healing also.

Goldfish are the heaviest ammonia producers you can find and oscars as we all know are dirty pigs in the tank. Water volume is key. Water changes can mimic that.
Even with your filtration in the 180 , those fish are probably polluting you out.

Couldn't agree more. I knew someone with more exp would chime in.

I know goldfish are the worst to keep, I first got them as 1.5" feeders to circulate the tank....when I first got the over 3yrs ago and as you noticed they're a bit too big to be "food"
