Tonigh my parents came home hammered from their anniversery celebration (some stranger bought them a bottle of wine as congradulations) and my mom accidentally let it slip that my grad gift is going to be a fish store shopping spree. Which I was planning to do anyways with my own money when I graduated but this awesome. So: what should I get? I figure I should make a list so a bunch of impulse buys don't happen.
Mind you, the maximum amount of space in my room can contain a 75 gal, so whatever comes to mind I'd love to hear it.

In all seriousness, get a 75 and a 40B for a sump. Do it once, do it right. You can always buy nicer fish later, but major changes to the tank are not easy once there is water in it. Get a tank with a built in overflow. Do a herbie drain. Drill a hole for the return. These things will make your experience a breeze. I've gone from a 55 with 2 HoB's to a 120 with a 55 sump. Still a 4' wide tank but a lot bigger. There's an abundance of people here who can help you achieve a simple set-up.

Haha I've already had my tetra fun. I hope to get my butt down to SF for some low cost fish and some sweet planted stuff, but any stocking ideas? Maybe something compatible with bichirs. Love to get one or two of those

A 40 breeder tank. It's dimensions should let it fit under the stand as long a the stand will let you fit it in. If you want more info I can send you some stuff tomorrow if you don't get better answers tonight.

who cares about the size of your room tell you mom to get rid of a couch or two and put it there i got rid of half the furniture in my parents house to have fish tanks hahaha

Heheh. I moved my bed all the way against the wall and a dresser into my closet to make room for my 100 :) and rearranged the living room to fit the 35 in there as a centerpiece...slowwllyyy taking over the house!!


OP, I think you should get a tank full of Bichirs. ;)

Your lucky. Lol all i got for my grad gift was a military enlistment. For a 75 going planted with some upper jaw bichirs or may red head tapajos would look nice imo
