Rams are really fun. I have a trio, one of the females just laid eggs. They don't do anything exciting when I'm watching them so I just set up my phone's camera so that it recorded them for about 30 minutes. It was cool watching the video, they even moved the eggs that didn't attach to the rock correctly.

Anyways, that's a bit OT, but I felt like I needed to share that lol.
I definitely think you should get a ram, they're fun.

What about, uhh...Ohh, get a Zebra Pleco ;)

Get a 75 gallon
Eheim 2262 (Or a Fluval FX5 if you want to save a couple hundred bucks)
Inline heater to go inline with the 2262
Rena 400 air pump (Run a sponge filter as a backup bio filter, and run some other air stones if you want)
Get a nice 3d background
Glass canopy
I'd do a marineland LED light, but if you want to do planted, get a nice T5HO light
Build a nice stand for it

That's a solid $700 once all is said and done (more like $900 if you get the 2262).

And stock it with whatever you want.

Wow thanks for specificality of that reply. Yh that filter is on craiglist right now actually.
So my stocking list is now:
Columbian Rams (2 females 1 male)
2 bichirs
Cories of some kind
Big ol' school of Congo Tetras
Plants:
Big bunches of either Java Fern or Crypt Wendtii
Anubis's
Some kind of moss
Maybe a ground cover of micro sword
Something else
Decor:
Driftwood (lots of driftwood)
Flagstone (for caves)

Yep thats it. Maybe clown loaches instead of cories cuz cories stay small for too long.

Maybe some super red severums, or trio panda uaru if u can fnd them. Id use rena xp3 or 4 or eheim canister filter and I always like one or two hob as a back up. Also while ur at it, get a 48" led double brights. Post pics when ur done with the set up.

Meh. Severums. They look great, but something a little more active. Its the same with discus. Love schools of fish.

Decided on some reticulated hillstream loaches to put on algae duty. They'll be the oddballs of the tank I suppose.

I have one of those! Gosh he is the funniest little fish, I love him. He has established his territory and any time one of the Cory Cats comes into the are he jumps on top of them. Completely harmless and so fun to watch. He also tried doing it to the Mystery Snail when the snail was on his lettuce. To no avail though, he kept hopping on top of him, then gave up.

I'm sure you know this, but just in case you don't - they do best in lower temps, and need a lot of oxygen in the water, and appreciate a lot of water movement. They're not made for swimming, they're made for riding on a current. They also can't be expected to live just off the algae growth, of course. Mine lovveesss Romaine Lettuce, he's willing to "top" any fish in the tank that comes too close to it!
