I need convincing, which fish should I start out in my 55 grow out. They will be moving to my 220 long term. If I had access to a chain pickerel I wouldn't bother asking, but I can only seem to find grass pics for sale and I am unfamiliar with their coolness. If anyone thinks I could do both let me know, but I fear the 3 dollar fish (bass) would eat the 19 dollar fish (pickerel). I appreciate anyones opinion who has owned these guys or just wild speculation from anyone who feels like giving it. Which fish is cooler?

Awesome. Thanks for the input. Bass 1 - Pickerel 0. Any exciting things I should look forward to? I like your enthusiasm, you know something.

i have had both and i would say bass because they have more/better personality

Nice. 2 to 1. I guess I'll go best out of ten or whoever gets the most. Personality, great point. That's a big consideration. I had a Hujeta for a while and it was always skittish and annoying to watch. I like a fish that isn't afraid of me. I worried the pickerel would be similar. I still wonder if I could do both, shadowavenger did you keep both in the same tank?

no. even though they were close in size i was afraid the bass would eat the pickerel...

i would say bass, probably a little more personal and alot less skittish, you could probably get away with two if you wanted.

Well with the bass u can have more than one...ive had a couple basses before and they were awesome full of personality like a pbass or oscar.....BUT pickerel have teeth though!!! So i wud go with a school of bass or if ur going with only one then i wud go with the pickerel

I vote smallmouth bass..but between lmb and pickerel. I'd go with pickerel.
