Grass Pickerel or Largemouth Bass?

I have had both and prefer the pickerel. You can keep more than one of either fish. They can both be pellet trained and are both very cool fish. They can both have a lot of personality, but the bass will be a lot more active and exciting. The pickerel will be crazy during feeding, but otherwise it is about the same as the hujeta.
 
Pickerel are great fish but to get them to their full potential and coloring they would be best in a medium to fully planted tank, otherwise they get stressed very easy when they have no where to hide and lurk. They are great at feeding time if feeding live food but that can get very exspensive and dangerous to the fishes health if feeders are not quarantined. LMB have great personallity just like the pickerel does but he will be more active and not just sit and stare. Ive kept both and prefer bass.
 
Thanks everyone. So far it's 8 to 3 by my count, even though some of the answers had good stuff to say about both. My tank does have a ton of plants set up in it already so there is a possibility I could try both fish. But I like the idea of an exclusive bass tank, maybe ill cover all ground and do a large, small, and a rock. Thanks again for everyones feedback, i'm kind of leaning towards bass now.
 
An LMB is likely to outgrow the 220. You could keep several grass pickerel in that tank for life.
 
lmb can get very agro with other fish as well , and can grow extreamly fast prob out grow your 55 by the midd winter and get territotial cuz there is not alot of space. also very messy fish producing a heavy wast load... a grass pick or even a red fin pick prob would be a better fit you also could put other fish in with them that are to big to eat and are less aggro..
 
i've not kept LMB or SMB, but i have kept grass pickerel

they are pretty sweet looking, but really dont do a whole lot except stay in one spot, and then move when its time to eat.

it all depends what you are looking for
