Gravel or sand for datnoid.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It pretty much comes down to ur preference..I just changed my tiger tank from gravel to pool sand and my tigers seem to love it..And I think it looks better and more natural..

sorry i dont have a recent picture of it. after i took out the sand one of my thinbars stabled out. its like super gold with dark black stripes. im gonna try black sand see how the other react to it.

other then the useless comments. those who gave me opinions i appreciate it greatly.
My bad fellas,I totally overlooked where you said that your dat hates the substrate material.Cam thanks for the play by play, you'd make a fine moderator.:)

I have kept datnoids in tanks with gravel, sand and bare bottom with no problems.

What I think makes a difference is the color of the substrate...

I have a medium dark brown gravel, which color would you suggest ?

sorry krichardson didnt mean to be disrespectful. i appreciate your input though. i was talking about some other people.

now back on the subject. what do you guys think about black gravel. sand imo cost alot so i think im gonna try the black gravel. also should i get a background that has bright color or black on black. i havent been keeping datnoid a long time so that makes me sorta inexperience compared to some fish pros here.

paul you should know how my datnoids look in black sand super stable all day long =D

yea im still thinking what to do. my original plan was to get some black sand with some color max bulbs with live plants. but its a bit too much for me. well. see hopefully 50 bux can cover the bulb and the sand if i can get some

In my experience...I have found that my tigers look better in a dark environment...such as black gravel...black background.

When I had my tigers with white sand there were a few that were not 100% stable. Perhaps they were uncomfortable in the bright environment.

All of my tigers are stable on bare bottom as well.

i put in 10 lb black gravel for test. and so far my indos are stable except for my 1 and my thinbar. my air hose for the bubbler isnt too good so barely comes out maybe thats why some fishes are unstable? i dont know

i thinking about getting coral life color max bulbs think that will help out a bit and get those air disk
