Gravel or Sand?

I used to have gravel but as soon as i tried sand i did wonder why it took me soooooo long to try it,its loads better and doesnt trap the crxp like gravel does.

Yeah, if you have fine sand, diggers, or filter intakes close to the bottom (or any combo of those) it can be an issue with your filters. Just cut your intakes so you've got 6" or so of clearance off the sand, and get coarse sand like pool filter sand (playsand is finer), and you should be fine.

I will never go back to gravel.

ignoring the possibility of parasites and bacteria, it depends. go to your creek stir up the sand to see how much of it is silt.
