Actually fishkeeping on the internet is far from a male dominated activity.
In fact there are plenty of sites which have a significant female bias.
This link shows one and if you scroll down to the bottom of the page there are a number of others all with a mostly female demograpic.

I'd say that most of the aquarium sites listed at quantcast have a majprity male audience but not by much, certainly not dominating, often a few percent though there are some.
Stereotypes (and indeed retaliatory stereotyping aside) Internet fish forums are actually remarkable equal opportunity.
