  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Looks like some nice rock!

I am eager to see what happens with those corals!

Worse comes to worse we will get some LED's up in there or something...if you want corals, we can make it happen.

Are you running any chemical media? Or just the carbon that was sent with it? Any plans to run anything else? Or try to use a skimmer?

Thanks ,yeah i got pretty lucky on the rock haha 10 pounds rock, 8 pounds sand, and a couple corals for 45$. and i took the carbon bag out just cause it was so dang messy to begin with, ill probably add some chemi pure in the future. And yeah if lighting isnt sufficient im loading that thing full of LEDs haha im pretty good wiring all that stuff so shouldnt have a problem there, just which lights to use. Idk bout protein skimmer because i probably couldnt fit one unless i took the dremel to the back of the hood. but i ordered a new pump to replace the 60gph pump it came with, now it will be 160gph, hopefully i wont need a wavemaker but idk yet. and idk yet about livestock, so far only a snail. any recomendations :)

In 8 gallons? Small gobies...those are your best bet.

Good to hear about everything so far...sounds like there will be some interesting DIY in the near future. :D

that light is only good for low light corals, i.e basic mushrooms,( no ricordias, yumas ect) some zoas, gsp, and maybe xenia. i have a feeling its going to be tough trying to find replacement bulbs.

all parameters are good, ph is a little low, 7.9, im looking into replacement bulbs tomorrow, and im going to install some old leds as moonlights tomorrow, shoulg work. but what LEDS should i add for the main lighting ? im also upgrading to 2 fans

Start looking on Ebay...they have lots of nano LED lighting options. Start looking and then run stuff by us here.

There are some good smaller fixtures on www.reefkoi.com might be worth checking out as well.

Those LED's look they are strictly moon lights...

This will be cool at night...but not do much as far as increasing intensity during your photoperiod for the corals.
