Great News "Pinima"

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Congrats High City! Thats a hella of a donation. Those should be some happy cichla. Thanks for sharing the trip. We'll be waitn for updates.

And whats taking their place?

Hell yeah Mike, that's awsome!!!

Truly blessed fish. It's going to be so satisfying for you to know they will live the rest of their lives in that monsterous aquarium:headbang2.

I look very forward to going to see them in their new home. I haven't been to the zoo for so long, and I can't recall even ever seeing the aquarium there.

Nice job! What a great excuse to get back to the Denver zoo, havent been there since '07 with the whole family for my sister-in-laws wedding. mother -in-law's been at us for awhile to come out skiing, just might have to now...

I will be sure to update them here in this thread when they get some more size on them. There are some pretty large Arapima and Red Tail cats in the display that could possiably mistaken them for a snack.

Angler I didn't even know they had a Aquarium at all at the Zoo. You can imagine our surprise to see a 26'' Dovii and the rest of these monster's in there dispaly tank. When the Cichla get added into the tank were going to have a MFK meeting there for sure!

As for what's going to replace them there won't be any new additions to my collection just making room for what I already have. And of course I still have some other tricks up my sleeves for future project's. Most of all it was to to give the Pinima the best enviroment to ensure there survival and of course letting the Tem go was a no brainer. I don't want to have tank space be an issue for another year or so. It was never a real goal to keep any of these larger growing Cichlid for a very long time so it was just time for them to move on to a better and more healthy enviroment that could supprot there need's.

Awesome man. I dont mean to sound negative but are you worried about the arapaima? There are no more peacock bass at the DWA because the pima ate them all. That is what a member of the Dallas World Aquarium told me. Hope they do well they look great

It'll likely be some time before they go into the display tank with the pima. Though there is a silver aro that is in with them that is about the same size as the Pinima.

They said the aquarium at the zoo was built in 1993, never expected for it to be as nice as it is.

Looking forward to that meet at the zoo:naughty:

hmmm..wonder if i can sneak in there and snatch them boys up....lol...jk...nice bro, a true hobbiest my braddah!!!

The third and the fourth picture are the holding tanks they will be put into until they put some size on them. Like Brian said there is a Aro in there about there size right now 20''. But I am sure he is going to play it safe and get them at least to 24'' before even thinking about putting them in the main display tank. They have Dovii of all sizes everywhere which was awesome to me! There were Dovii in the main display of all diffrent sizes as well as numerous amounts of Dovii in the holding pond which I think he said was 800g + concrete enclousure. I am sure the Cichla will have plenty of food! Rick seems to have had his fare share of experience with all these sp. I am sure there in Great hands and I can't wait to see them again in the main display. I have a short Video and will upload it later this evening. I am sick as a dog so everyone bare with me. And thank you everyone for the kind words. Just to go throught this journey has been amazing and the movement still continues. Stay tuned!

cant wait to see the vid!!
