Green Aro vs RTGG (no rematch)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have heard that GG chase silver fish...I put a 4 inch GG with my 9 inch silver aro and the GG hounded it. Did not chase anything else and still doesn't. Just hated that Silver fish. The 9 inch Dat finally drove my Aro out of tank....i rehomed him yesterday.

Ha yeah thanks, I figured out the light trick now after havin a red tail cat for a couple of years, odds are you won't find em in the mornin or theyl kill them tryin, thanks man.
It's just one of those things I guess, il jus make sure I got my back up tank ready just in case it gets nasty. It should be fine but he is startin to hammer 2 big oscars in there. I'm gettin rid of them, they were my test fish wen I first installed my new setup, they will be gone by the time the rtgg gets in......jus hope he doesn turn on rtg like the Oscar , I hate to c a nice fish with torn fins

If you read my post you will notice that I have excepted the Jardini . It is, by far, the most agressive aro.

But, at the end of the day, it all depends on the indvidual ( as well as on some other factors ).

I have an RTG that kills any Jar it lays its hands on......

Yeah cool, like u said before it comes down to experiance and keepin a good watch on things. I'm new to this site but have been keepin monster fish for a while now, I love em, it's great to hear about others experiences and expertese...thanks again

i bought 2 rtg few days ago in seperate days.. both same size.. pop it in .. and their attacking each other .. 1st guy was the lead... then now 2nd guy .. 1st guy hiding in the drift wood plant... recuperating.. lots of scale gone and torn broken fins..

just bought a 2 feet tank today... will plan to seperate them today until they get better and gonna try to comm them again..reason was my tank is 5 feet and their just only 4 inch each .. probably felt too insecure and territorialized the surface..

sigh still doesnt know what to do hope it survive tonight gonna remove the 2nd guy which guard the surface now.. it wasnt bothering my 10" silver but i still remove my 10" .. noe he's emoing at the feeder tank .. guess it kinda cold down there.

hope the 1st guy come up after i remove the 2nd :(

I wouldn't try and comm them again until you have at least 5+ arows in the same tank. Instead of another tank, eggcrate divider works well.

you no need to trim the tail, just wait one year and it will grow back evenly. It happen to me before when i put the alligator gar with my RTG together.

That's why you don't keep RTG's with other Arowana or fish if it was the only fish in the tank to begin with and the tank isn't massive like a 700 gallon.

I think some are getting confused, the other fish was a RTGG (red tail giant gourami) not a RTG arowana. Personally i wouldnt risk putting a green with an RTG arowana, i remember my green was pretty aggressive and did not like fish getting into his swimming space.
