but I managed to save a few.
The (12) survivors have a new heater & doing well.
& I will expect more Green JD's from them. I will keep everyone updated with this project as things progress. I have a few other projects that I'm working on & patiently awaiting results from those too.
& will be returning the favor as soon as these grow a little more. If anyone is interested in grabbing a few of these babies I recommend PMng her for order/shipping info. I highly recommend her bloodline.Sorry for the loss, but this is very cool. I love stuff like this. We are friends with the original breeder of EBJD's (no he's not dead). He said the original blue was actually purple. He's here in the US now working on that project.
Hector Luzardo is dead. While many give him credit as the originator of the blue dempsey, he is not. The real originator is Alejandro Chemin. Alejandro discovered the first EBJD in a dempsey breeding pond many years ago. There was only one. I will have to ask Alejandro how Hector came into the picture and why he seems to get the credit.
Although I have a very hard time understanding him as I don't speak Spanish (sometimes his wife has to translate), he is very interesting to talk with. Very knowledgeable when it comes to breeding fish. He now has a farm here in FL with about 80 large breeding ponds.
My son knows a lot more than I do when it comes to this subject. He helped Alejandro move to the farm and then worked there with him for awhile. There are a lot of tricks he uses to breed the blue dempsey. I also know that most, if not all of the EBJD's he sells are sterile.
I'm not really interested in the project. My son moved from FL to Michigan and left me with a few male blues and a bunch of blue gene females. These are directly from Alejandro's stock and are not sterile. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with them yet.
