ok thank you so then wat would be a good companion of a green sunfish?

im buildin g a 281 gallon 5x5x1.5' pond this spring so it wont be in that tank long and it will have to be able to bare cold water

Just dont get more fish, you have to deal with your present fish first and build the pond next spring then ask us again. Dont get any fish during winter, thats my advice. Notice i dont flamed you lots today because its getting old.

once you set up the pond, look into other sunfish and maybe something like Gambusia in large numbers as forage

Only if theres enough room for let Gambusia reproduce into 281gal pond which its not enough room so i would toss forage idea out. And green sunfish readily breeding in the ponds, just think them as North American version convict cichlids with huge mouth.

Green sunfish are mean fish I ever owned, beat up every fish in my tank and ate two of x-large corydoras. IMO I wont get a oscar until I get my 75gal for SURE then add a oscar to that 75gal but even 75gal is too small for fullgrown oscar. I would go for 125gal for house both oscar and green sunfish. But after I read all in thread...catfish, sunnies, oscars...sounds like too many fish you have, gar man.

then u should read some of my other threads cuz the catfish and green sunfish are going to go into my 281 gallon pond next spring and the oscars are going into the 75 but im going to shoot for a 120 gallon cuz i like its footprint better (4'x2'x2') and that would be fine for 2 oscars
