Green Sunfish/Warmouth Hybrid

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
^ I agree I cant see any traits of green on that sunfish...I think it might be just a warmouth

I still thinks its just regular warmouth since they are so variable. and the adult pic you posted...is it confirmed as hybrid GS X Warmouth? because it looks like Green X Pumpkinseed.

their are no pumpkinseeds where the adult hybrid was caught, i didn't catch it, someone on a local fishing forum did. look at the red/brown color on the belly, give away of a warmouth.

Red/brown color on the belly is NOT part of the warmouth's traits. Any sunfish can have red/brown color.

I still thinks you just have a regular warmouth since most warmouth are always have variable coloration. I see no zero green sunfish genetics in your younger warmouth.

think what u want, but i have caught hundreds of warmouth out of this lake and am almost certian this is a warmouth hybrid.

I already am well aware of what warmouth do and don't look like.

I don't see any greenie in it and you can't confirm hybrid just by color, since that's variable. All of the visible traits are of a plain warmouth and the fin rays aren't visible in your pics.

here is a pic of a full grown GSF/Warmouth hybrid

That fish has traits consistent with a green sunfish, such as white edges to the fins and specific looking iridescent stripes on the face. I don't see those traits with your pictures.

Your fish could be a hybrid but nothing in your pic leads me to that conclusion. You need better pics and some pics with the fin rays up and visible.
