My 2.5" green terror is strange...

Last week I bought a green terror and a tiger oscar for company.. They were place in a 35 gallon tank while the larger tank is being cycled...

The green terror doesn't like the tiger oscar and killed it.. :-(

Yesterday I bought two more oscars(1 albino and 1 tiger) hoping that the two will somehow stick together and not get bullied by the GT. What's strange is that my GT seems to hate tiger oscars... He again killed the tiger oscar but left the albino unharmed... Is this usual with green terrors?

That does seem strange, but I wouldn't suggest trying another Tiger - I think your GT has made his case quite clear!

Sorry for the deaths :(

yes I would have liked the tiger better since it has a more natural color... :(

Are the GTs really that aggressive even at a young age? I think the current 35 provides more than enough space for a couple of 2.5" fishes... Or am I wrong?

and I wonder why he hates tigers...

Yes GT are that aggressive at a young age sorry about your oscar. :(

Never kept GT's myself, but from what I have read they can be quite bad tempered. Really depends on the individual though...

The key is that the Oscar needs to be much larger than the GT. I would also get them in a larger tank. For those two full grown I would say atleast 100 gallons. Once they are in a larger tank some dither fish might help with the aggression too. You also may want to think about getting a divider for if things still get messy. This combination should work though as long as the oscar starts out larger than the GT and as long as you have enough space. You also may want to try adding the Oscar to the larger tank first, and then adding the GT later. Hope that helps.

Aggreed w/ Blockhead....maybe you should try getting a larger Oscar than the GT.
