Green Terror and Oscar Problem

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
my gt was the size of yours and killed my tiger oscar also but later i bought an albino and red oscar which he gets along with fine except my red oscar died of a parasite.

I have owned both oscars and GTs, but never together . . . but the reason I no longer keep either is that it was too difficult to keep anything else with them. I lost my oscar when it tried to eat a pictus catfish (not a good idea, he choked to death) . . . and I had to give up my GT 'cuz it was getting owned by my JD

FWIW, instead of GTs, I prefer blue acara . . . still a good looking fish, and not as much drama in the tank . . .

i have had gt and oscars together for a long time before i had to sell them "the oscars" cuz they wer to big but my green is almost full grown now and hes op agressive when i want babys i put him with his female then take him out fast after he fertilises cuz he will eat the babys to make her lay again gt are crazy but their cool btw min 65 gallon tank for couple of gt's:)

Green Terrors can be quite aggressive when they can get away with it. In my experience with them if they are not the alpha in the tank they just seem to wither away. Try a little tougher species, JD,pike and such that can take the abuse and dish it out when needed. Dont go overboard with aggressive species as in a midas, jag etc as they will quickly teach a terror who is boss and probably more . good luck

My Gt is totally mellow, He actually keeps the peace in his tank. Whenever aggressions starts he usually gets in the middle of it and breaks it up. Although he is defiantly the alpha in the tank. The FM gets pretty aggressive towards tank mates but after the GT chases him around the tank for a few laps he cools off.
