Green Terror Pair having babies

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Mine are sort of a brown color...if you look carefully at mine you can just begin to see the markings developing but not the color..

Mine has just started to develope their markings. There is an electric yellowish green spot on all their cheeks, but other than that, the typical GT color is not there yet.

I just lost another baby today..so sad.. i will probably lose them all.. it has been one a day for a long time now,

Sucks.. I lost probably half of the ones I took out from the first batch. The rest are doing great. I probably have like 20 left. Some are runts and I dont expect them to survive. They are all eatting well though. I am using Hikari Fry Food. They love it. They wont eat ground flake.

the Mom is fine.. her picture is in the above thread along with her babies...she has not grown much.. the male is starting to put on size now..but i thought he would be bigger by now too..everyone of my fish have grown rapidly and most are even fat..i know i probably have the only fat fish there are.. i feed excellent and alot of variety..so these green terrors have me baffled at what is going on...

My female died, I believe from the stress of having 2 batches in such a short amont of time. After she lost all her second batch to the other fish in the tank (the fry I am raising is from her first batch), she kinda went all weird. She was protecting the nest, but there were no more babies. She was then attacking a ghost fish she thought was creaping up behind her. It was sad. It came to a point where she just stopped eatting. I took her out and tried to nurse her back, but no luck. Now my male is all depressed. Sits around and only comes out to eat.

I am so sorry to hear you lost your female.. now that you mentioned it my female does not seem that lively either.. i think the terrors are wonderful parents and i think they feel the loss unlike most fish.. especially the female.. thanks for the tip on feeding the fry..i will try that food..

yes they are about 3 inches now.. i found out through researching that there are no dwaft species in Green Terrors.. glad to hear this.. i was getting a little worried .. not use to being so lucky to have a young pair already breeding..
I think you mean "Dwarf"  :D

He is beautiful..and congradulations!!! let us hear all about the growth as they mature.. i only have a few babies left now and the Mom is not doing well at all..she has a white string type thing hanging from her.. we have added salt and meds to the tank..she is not eating and i think we will lose her.. my husband has been raising fish for 30 years but he has never found out what this is.. he said it may be some sort of parasite.. very sad because she was a great mother and healthy out going fish..so maybe the babies have something from her.. the male is doing great, growing and colorful.. anybody have any idea what this is and what i can do about it..please let me know.. i will take a picture if i can capture the string like thing in the picture and then i will send in in next thread..

Here are a few pictures, female, male and babiees

I just wanted to update everyone and also ask anyone who can give me an answer some infomation on breeding and raising green terrors.. i have 8 green terror babies and all but one is displaying the same fin damage as the father in the second photo..this is almost worse then just losing them all in the first place..what type of hereditary problem is this..has anyone else had this before..i will post baby pix later..they were just getting all their color and thriving in general but these fins are in deed like Dads.. Anyone have any clue what type of genetic defect this is..help!

Here is a recent picture of the babies..you can see their finage in exactly like the fathers in his prior picture in this thread.. anybody know anything about this ? they are not the greatest pictures because the baby tanks are hard to take.. but you can see the split fins..etc..thanks
