Green terror questions and hello

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Anyhow, jag cichlids are amazing! I wish I could have a huge fishtank so that I could keep any fish that I want! Haha in the future I want to have 100s of fish tanks with each having different species combos in! And some planted communities, and malawis and all cichlids of the world!!! Oh I wish my angels were still alive, I don't know if I ever find a fish to prep lace them. But, for now, I am stuck with the 4ft and my GT to be! Hahaha
That's a spirit you will eventually get it done :) show us some pictures after you get your tank going with GT.

Odessa barbs would work as they get kind of large and the males are awesome looking when breeding. They can also hold their own and are fast.

I like the fact that they grow slow, like I said, he/she will have to live in a 55g tank for at least 2 years :) I don't like putting me fish in a 'minimum required' tank and would prefere it to have a pieceful life in a larger tank once I can accommodate one.

As to the Odessa barbs. Do you have any experience with them? You said when they breed, the males have amazing colours. Does that also mean that they could get overly aggressive toward each other or the GT or the bichir?

Ah I'll most likely show you millions of photos cuz I like to share moments that make me happy! :D but don't hold your breath! It make take couple more weeks :)

So, I finally decided! I'm going for 12 tiger barbs!! I got them today and they are still tiny, I would say 2inch each! I also found a store where I can grab the GT and polypterus edndlicher? It looks like a tiger :)

The shop is 3h drive from my place! So my new question is; can I get both the bichir and the green terror at the same time? Or would it be too big of a stres on the bioloid? I could always put the GT or bichir in an old tank but that's empty :/

the bichirs are around 12cm long and the GTs are 3-4 inches depending on which one I like (that's what I got as a reply from the store). Is there a way to sex them at this size? I read on this forum that the males will have shinier scales and some kind of design on their dorsal fin? So can I get 2 for now just in case and sell one when the need arises? I wouldn't have a problem with selling it!

The GTs are £19 each and the bichirs are £12 each. And I paid £12 for the tiger barbs (from a very good shop so I know they are worth their price!)

Also good news is the house we are about to buy has a basement so if all goes well then within a year I will be able to grab me self a much larger tank, maybe even diy one!! :D oh my dream is to get a real predator tank, with arowanas or red tail catfish, or knife fish or piranhas(just a joke, I'm scared of them after all the horrors!)

Just as a reminder, the tiger barbs are supposed to be dither fish, so if they get eaten then good for the fish that ate them! Haha if they oppose any trouble, then I will say bye bye to them. The most important fish in this tank will be the bichir and the GT! :)
