Blue acara maybe with a jewel or 2 or possibly some tetras. Gt IME won't work with a firemouth in a 55, blue acara might be more forgiving than a gt depends on fish

depends the size of your green terror, if it is still small, less than 4 inches, you may add dwarf cichlid, such as convicts, firemouth, salvini, no more than three fishes in total and best to add fishes that doesn't grow over 8 inches. dither like giant danio would be great.

Temporary stocklist if u do this, anymore than 1 of the aformentioned cichlids could lead to trouble. Have a hospital tank ready because when ur gt turns adult like all agressive fish it will want its own space. upgrade!!
well I am from India and i have seen very odd list of fishes and tank.
Like you guys say 55g is very less for one single Gt. i have seen 2 gts 5 inch, 2 texas 5 inch 2 knife fish,2 oscar in the same tank and thriving.
Whats up with this now.
A 55 might be too small if and when the GT reaches its full size in about five years. Until then it can be in there with other cichlids. Whether they do well together or not is more a question of personality than it is size and species. My eight inch polleni is quite content in his 55 and has other, smaller cichlid tank mates. The key is to have a lot of territories set up around the corners with one or two open areas in the middle.
