well I am from India and i have seen very odd list of fishes and tank.
Like you guys say 55g is very less for one single Gt. i have seen 2 gts 5 inch, 2 texas 5 inch 2 knife fish,2 oscar in the same tank and thriving.
Whats up with this now.

And there are craigslist ads with people selling their 20g tank with a very healthy looking Oscar with it.

MFK is all about responsible fish keeping, just because something has and can be done doesn't mean it should.

You know what they say-God protects drunks and fools.
Or is it me that says that....? And besides-the tanks you talk about are kept that way for a short time (til the fish die, which they will). Not for 10-12 yrs which is the lifetime of the fish.

It's all about quality and the length of life mate. You can be certain that those fish in that size of tank will live to nowhere near their expected life span.

I m not being rude or any kind. I myself believe in bigger tank for proper growth and well being of the fish. But what i want to know is how this is going well.smaller tanks bigger fishes.Hell they clean it on every 4th day and clean the filter on the very same day :).
and switch off it in the evening(when i ask the reason they say do u clean ur room 24 hrs lolz).

I just don't think your question has an answer. Why do some tanks work with a stock list where another tank with that same exact stock list and maintenance routine doesn't?

These fish have a varying personality, I have read posts were people were able to keep Red Terrors in a 125 Gallon with tankmates then at the same time read where other RT's killed everything in a 220 Gallon.

i would say either a male gt r a convict i have a 65 gallon with a femal gt and a male pink con and they seem to do fine .. the only time it gets kinda badis when the gt lays eggs

here is a small proof.
I know MKF is for healthy fish keeping. But its happening and surviving, i want a reason for that.why those small tank working fine with such big fishes.

In the example you posted… People quickly suggested the tank is too small for the fish it houses… and the Thread’s Author quickly agreed and stated he was planning to get a larger tank very soon…

In the example you posted it was mentioned the fish were gasping…

In the example you posted… prior to getting a larger tank the thread’s Author posted that at least one of the fish had stopped eating…

I think the example you provided is a great example of keeping a mix of larger growing fish in a small tank is a very bad idea and should be avoided… That thread’s Author simply got lucky that the fish survived until he got a larger tank (which he did by the end of the thread)…

As mentioned, these fish should live longer than 10 years. Ca we really claim a mixture to be “successful” until the fish are full sized adults and have lived a healthy long life?

Smoking cigarettes will reduce a humans life span by around 10~15% and lower the quality of life and is considered a bad habit that kills us. So how can we justify that reducing a fish’s lifespan by 50% or more is “successful”…

To the op, you have so many posts I think we are all confused.. Which fish do you actually have, at the moment, and what tanks do you have, and plan on keeping? Every thread I read of yours says different things, and if you want clear answers, you need to be clear yourself..
