yeah GT may not get quite as personable as an O but for a fish they will still be pretty outgoing, when i had my small pair they would cruise around my tank like they owned the place and were never aggressive to the other cichlids in the tank unless the other fish started something first. they came up to eat and were great, my male and female would have stringy poop sometimes but i never found out what it was because my male jumped but i dont think it was parasites because they had fertile eggs and parasites make fish infertile. and i will say that once my male jumped out of the tank my female lost a lot of color and hid most of the time, i hated it. but when she was with the male both of them were awesome and the male was def my fav fish. i like them better than oscars, i think they look better, still have good personality (though not quite as outgoing as Os) and they stay a more manageable size and aren't as messy

Does a Green Terror's colors get brighter and more attractive when they grow cuz all the ones ive seen around me are pretty dull

Most pet stores tend to feed fish a diet with little variety. Once you get the GT home and feed it a varied diet it will color up pretty quickly. Make sure to feed it cichlid pellets with a variety of fresh veggies. Also Insects are good to feed about once a week.

Diet really helps a these fishes color. I took mine about 9 days to color up and he was only an inch long when I got him.

No GT will ever have the personality of an oscar imo.

I totally disagree. A GT can have just as much or more personality than an Oscar.

An Oscar is more likely to have a better personality than a GT but it comes down to the individual fish.

they are rediculously aggressive and constantly chase around any tankmates that are put with them (which I don't consider a good thing since I prefer to have community tanks rather than single specimen tanks). Oscars have great personalities, can get very large given the correct conditions, and can be put with just about anything that won't fit in their mouths ime.

Like I said before it all comes down to the individual fish. An Oscar can be just as aggressive as a GT. BTW in general neither GTs or Os are very aggressive but there are always cases of individual fish being much more aggressive than the rest of their species.

As far tank mates go, you can put many different fish with GTs. I have mine with a severum, a FM, and a pictus cat. This tank is by far the most peaceful one I have ever had. There is never any fighting, and My GT & Sev are inseparable.

My green terror murdered my oscar just yesterday. The oscar was almost twice as big as the terror but hes a male so very territorial

Like you said, it depends on the individual fish. I know from personal experience (not from owning the fish my self, but from watching other people's fish and fish at lfs's) that some GT's get very territorial as they mature, to the point where they can't be kept with any other tankmates other than plecos and other armored catfish, and if you read my entire post, I said most GT's I've seen were either aggressive or overly timid, I didn't say that all GT's are like that. Also, I have never heard of an oscar being too aggressive for tankmates. I had a tank a few years ago (actually like 5-6 years ago) that housed two albino tiger oscars with a 3-spot gourami, and there was never a single sign of aggression between any of them. Oscars tend to be much more mild-mannered than GT's ime (and the above post is proof of this).

im favoring the green terror big time, is there any way to get it to come ot the top to eat the floating pellets?

once it realizes that the food is up there it will come to the top for the pellets, also if your going to have it by itself then i would recommend some dithers to make it feel more comfortable, especially while it is little

i like tiger barbs but you have to get a school of AT LEAST 5 (min of 6-7 is better) or they will the nip the hell out of your GTs fins, and if raised together the barbs should be big enough and fast enough once grown to be left alone by the GT, dont know if i missed this or not but what size is the tank?
