i find there both pretty easy to feed but the Oscar is way easier! When feeding time comes around the Oscar will sit in one spot and wait for me to feed him. where as the Green terror shoots around all over the place. Once, i feed the Oscar he will follow my hand around waiting for more food to drop. But the GT will take off into the back of the tank once he gets a pellet. its as if the GT is a schizophrenic, and the Oscar is the perfect example of an intelligent fish by comparison. that's my 2 cents.

I've never owned a GT,( Looking into it ) but I've had a number of Red Tiger Oscars. They've got a lot of personality :)

I realize that oscars seem smarter, but in my opinion the GT's looks over ride everything an oscar has to offer.

Went with the GT, and hes already showing me signs of a great personality, stares at me right through the glass haha. Just can't seem to get him to eat the floating pellets.

try breaking them in half, When I feed my fish I have to break the pellets in half so my severum and FM can eat them because their mouths are much smaller than the GTs. When you break them, little pieces will fall towards the bottom and your GT will probably go after them just for the fact that they are falling. Once he gets a taste he will probably start eating them off the top.

Just a suggestion, it may not work, but like stated before when he get hungry enough he will eat them.

I have a mix I feed my tank I feed NLS cichlid formula and a floating pellet, the GT's tend to ignore the floating pellets and they tend to inhale the NLS which sinks. I also feed frozen brine shrimp, krill, and mysis. I am trying to grow them alittle bigger so I can start feeding some fresh chopped veggies as well.

As for dithers alot of people use silver dollars or giant danios I didnt like the looks of these fish so I went with 3 Bala sharks as my dithers they arent agressive (except twords each other) they will get a decent size and they are pretty fast moving and can get away from my GT's. I also have a collection of plecos in the tank as well for clean up (actually I probably have too many but when you see a 3 inch rubber nose push a 6 inch green terror out of the way for food ya just cant take him out)

I hope I could help you out with some of my opinions and experiences

My GT eats where ever. Top, bottom, middle doesn't matter. The little pig will even sift sand lol. Guess I got lucky.

Mine does as well, and I bet that the OPs will too. Once it becomes more familiar with it's home and keeper.
