i've got a what i hope is a male green terror he's got a decent size hump forming on his head for a 3" fish, i also got a convict from a friend which is about the same size , my problem is the convict is chasing the GT pretty much all the time but doesn't seem to be doing any damage no torn fins ect.
do you think that they will be able to get along, i don't want anything to affect the growth or health of the GT so i don't know whether to leave them together and see how it goes or remove the convict.
the thing is i quite like the convict and i don't have anywhere for it to go other than back to the LFS :)
picture below if someone could confirm that this is a male.

I have a 4" male con that constantly chases what appears to be a 4" female GT. Never bites or liplocks but follows the GT everywhere. I'm also at a loss. Breeding behavior perhaps in my case

I have had convicts with green terrors for a few years now and I have never had a problem. I don't see any big deal if the convict is not hurting the gt or CONSTANTLY chasing it.

I might be concerned that the GT will lose that nice nuchal hump he's developing if he keeps getting harassed by the con. Other than that and possibly his colors taking a slight hit, I don't foresee any real problems.

put a few female cons in there, if its a male convict. If its a female, then put a male. Females are usaully a little more colorful than the males, males have a metallic looking purpleish tinge on their fins. (just in case you can't tell difference)

NO...dont put any cons of the opposite sex in the tank unless you want a dead GT within about a week. The minute the cons pair up and lay eggs, they will take over the tank and most likely kill the GT, or at best, keep him in hiding and eventually have him die of stress.

Ive had con pairs take over 2/3rds of a 265g as well as more than half of a 125 with fish 4x their size. The last thing you want is a pair in a 55 with other cichlid tankmates.

Mine keep to themselves, and have an imaginary line that if another fish passes they really only chase past the line, then return to their rocks. Otherwise they don't go out of their way to bother any other of my fish.. including my 2" GT.
