They get around 6 to 8 inches and in my past tanks they haven't been to aggressive. but i tend to have fish with weird personalities so im not sure on the aggression

i feel like the 2 rocket gar and the bichir will mean that the tank is already overstocked. if you took the gar out, i feel like you'd be in buisness (assuming you have a buttload of filtration). i had a senegal in a tank with a GT, RD, two JD's and a Jag and they never even noticed her. she eventually lived in the 55 with the green terror and they almost never even noticed each other
My GT was very passive and shy until recently. I put back my Golden Wonder, who was in a quarentine tank, and the Killie tried swimming real close extending his fins in front on of my GT, which kept swimming away and hiding. However, I stayed at school for 2 days (Finals) and when I came back my Golden Wonder had missing scales and now stays in the upper corner of the tank. My GT now has been braver and more aggressive towards other fish, even my cories and tetras! I think he may have killed a tetra because I woke up to a half eatn dead body at the bottom of the tank. I bought him at 1.5in now hes just past 3in.
My GT was also very passive until he was moved into a larger tank, it is now the dominant fish in the tank and has pretty much killed my oscar which is slightly larger then it...
I think you should go out and buy whatever you want to get, it sounds like your pretty set on your ways so just go out and get whatever fish you like the best.

55 is way too small for Hujetas to live comfortabley let alone with a cichlid or bichir. By the time the False gars reach 6" the 12" wide tank will give them claustrophobia if they haven't already commited suicide by ramming the glass. Rocket Gars like most Freshwater "Cudas" prefer saftey in numbers, large open swimming lanes, and minimal competition for food. They are flighty fish, easily starteled, and usually won't eat if they feel uncomfortable. They won't "fight" for food with larger fish esp. as juvi's and they won't eat from the boyttom of the tank. I read your post in the "other characins" section and the guy who suggested Rocket Gars for a 55 gave you bad advise esp. if money is an issue (ie-EBJD). You will need to upgrade to at least 75 gal within 6mo. for the Gars and odds are they won't eat non- live foods so your going to have to plan on buying tons of feeders.
Green Terrors would be pretty much a disaster with False Gars - if the Gars could talk - "Hail Ceasar! From those of us whom are about to die; We salute you." Large aggressive Cichlids will decimate their food supply, stress them to death, and more than likely eat them. 55 is also too small for Green Terrors, much like the Hujetas, GT's can reach 12" not very ideal for a 12" wide tank. Once again 75gal. With a 55 gal. your kinda stuck with 6" fish.
And if you don't think cute lil' Bichirs eat fish 1/2 their size your mistaken, as my 8" Sengalus swallowed a 5" African Goliath Tigar Fish @ $150 for Xmas dinner in 08'.
