Green Terror

How common are physical deformations:short body,etc... with Green Terrors?

The reason I ask is because I have a 7" male that seems to be a little stubby, but I have seen a lot worse! In fact, probably have seen more sb gt's,especially large traded in fish (to lfs) than full length fish??? Is it all genetics,or have the conditions that these fish have possibly been kept in contributed to this problem?

OP~ Great looking GT!!

I'm not too sure about short body fish... I've never owned them and they really don't appeal to me. Sorry was not more help.

how old is it?

I'm not sure of the age on my GT as I've only had him since December.

can all green terrors have the potential to change colors like yours? Like the ones from petsmart??

They all can get nice color, but if you go through someone like Rapps or another really good shop your chances will be better. I've seen some fish that have turned out pretty good from Petsmart though. Water changes, quality food and lots of room will def help too, lol.

I was refering to Jeff Rapps who owns Tangled up in Cichlids. He is located in New Jersey. IMO, he has the best selection of SA/CA cichlids out there. Most all of my fish have come from him.

What I was trying to say, was the ones I saw their faces looked like they'd been punched in and the mouths were more on the bottom of their face similar to a geophagus. They just didn't look good, and they were from petsmart. I have seen short bodied GT's before, but they were intentionally breed to be short bodied like a blood parrot. I'm not a fan of short bodied fish at all personally.
