Can I make my own garlic extract at home (maybe mash some garlic and dilute in water?) or is it something with a generic name that goes beyond what it's name suggest?
Yes, that would be fine. Just mash it up, and soak the pellets in the mash.

The poop is really white, thin and now they refuse to eat anything. Even what they used to like...
Didn't see this earlier. It may be internal parasites, and it may not. It has came to my attention that alot of GT's seem to go through this mysterious stage, where they get white stringy poop, and refuse to eat. I really don't know what it is, but alot of people on this site have experienced it, incuding myself. My advice is to try medicating using prazi-pro or jungle parasite, but if that doesn't work....just continue feeding them the brine shrimp or blood worms(as those are usually the only food they will accept for some reason) and just brave it out. My 2 didn't eat pellets, and had the white stringy poo for almost a month until one day they just mysteriously started eating again. It's pretty wierd
