pronounce/perfect iridescent ring around the black blotches like fish in question. Only fishes I can think of that does are Trimacs and Trimac hybrids such as FHs.

Agree. Hybrid.

I wouldn't say for sure, but I agree. After seeing those last pics it looks like a pure tex. Looks like a totally different fish though.

The last set of pics are a different fish owned by a different person.

It isn't pure IMO, but still has the potential to be a great looking fish.

he deffinatly is not underfed, and his markings havent changed to much since i got him, he basically runs my tank. deffinatly an aggresive fish. he ripped my 10 in tiger oscar to shreds in less than 20 minutes, i was very upset about it. my water condition is almost perfect, i keep it very clean.

the two main things that make me doubt it is a pure texas is that the black spots have mo markings on them and are surrounded by a ring, also, his tail is red with white spots

i was just thinking, flowerhorns are a cross between a midas and a texas right?

could it be a cross between a barred midas and a texas?

barred midas's usually stick too midas's and devil's.
i haven't yet heard of a midas's hybriding out of midas's.

Looks more like a tex now, with the big spots fading...but still the head/mouth make me thing it's not 100% tex.

The first pic itself tells that it's a texas. Juveniles and stressed fish do have those black blotches... but no question about it being a hybrid!
