Green Texas

Escondido variant carpintis are KNOWN and popular by their style of thick worm pearls.

I think there can be more and more locations if ppl are starting to catch at different locations. But Nothing extraordinary yet since Escondidos. Except the one by Tom Depiro(pictured). That one is extraordinary. I want bloodline like that.

Where he get this fish at?

And I dont remeber seeing a wC Carpinti for sale

Thank you for responding, the animal guy. Thick wormy pearls is what I'm hoping for. That carpintis is beautiful. I'll be getting my small batch tomorrow and hopefully can try my hand at a red texas project.

Sorry to derail guys but thinking of getting a GT, friend of mine got one from a pretty nice LFS and it isn't working w/ his stock. (Odoe pike, small geophagus) so I'm thinking of taking it off his hands. Is this a real GT? (I know its washed out in an algae covered tank, kind of distorting the looks) Would it be okay with fish of equal size or bigger then it? Or better off alone?

He can go in my 70 w/ my red wolf, pbass, dats, and bichirs. Or he can go in my 30 by himself and I can move my other grow outs to a divided section of the 70 until I can get him his own tank? Or I can even setup a temp Rubbermaid tank, have extra colonized filters going for things like this.

BTW my pbass and dats are smaller, around 4-5 inch, build scheduled in a month or so. So he deff won't be predated on he's pretty beefy himself. This has happened a couple times, my pbass is from the same guy when the same situation happened. If your gonna impulse buy least be better about it lol.

if you are looking for thick worm pearls, as two ppl looking for fish they want, I don't recommend the ones from Wetspot. They will look nice Im sure but they dont have the pearls on Escondidos Im use to seeing.. Still to today, I think Escondido strain is the thickest worm pearls.

I think Escondido strain/line look like this. Unless all Escondidos are different and all locations have differences within themselves. Then what's the point haaha

then grow up a lil looking like this around 5-6". (this is my video and I took him to the lfs).

then grow bigger to something like this(this this the thickest pearls I can find so I think it's an escondido; owner says so in title)

The fish pictured is not a Green Terror. It looks like a Herichthys carpintis, but I'm not familiar enough with the hybrid varieties that some LFS sell so I couldn't discount that possibility. As far as compatibility goes, it just depends on the temperament of the fish.

Oh no I meant Green Texas lol figured since it was a green Texas thread I'd ask on here. For the most part my guys are peaceful, some chasing and army red wolf will kill something randomly sometimes but the Texas seems like it can hold its own. More so at least then the threadfin arcara he killed. Or needlefish. Lol

Also wondering if its an Escondido or normal one? Might have to wait for better pics and for it to color up on a darker substrate.

Potential for some nice pearling?
