Green Texas

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Oh no I meant Green Texas lol figured since it was a green Texas thread I'd ask on here. For the most part my guys are peaceful, some chasing and army red wolf will kill something randomly sometimes but the Texas seems like it can hold its own. More so at least then the threadfin arcara he killed. Or needlefish. Lol

Also wondering if its an Escondido or normal one? Might have to wait for better pics and for it to color up on a darker substrate.

Potential for some nice pearling?

Hah - well that certainly makes a lot more sense! I don't use the common names very often (probably for just that reason). Your GT looks male, but it may just be washed out - look for a dark patch on the dorsal fin (females have one, males usually don't). They can hold their own with larger fish - give it a try with your stock, but be ready to separate it if he develops attitude. Not sure of the variety, but it looks like he has lots of potential to color up.

Thought I'd post mine... Any thought/opinions/M,F?

I heard the "black in the dorsal=female" but what about those fins/forhead (better seen in 2nd pic)?
Thanks everyone!

Nice, he isn't quite mine yet, still in my friends tank, my tanks aren't that dirty and bright lol. Yeah he has worming all over him and no black spot on the fin, a male would be nice. I've been wanting something that'll develop a lil hump haha. I'll keep a divider ready, and get the Rubbermaid tank set up, I need to anyway for the bichirs I'm buying this weekend. Getting some back I sold to the guy, he's getting out of the hobby altogether

This is crazy! My god what a beautiful specimen.

Rorreterror- this is a beautiful fish, with what looks like a lot of potential.

I just recieved my tracking number for the esco's. I'm stoked! I suppose this will be a grow out thread. I will be getting them in the morning and will update their arrival.

I agree, that is an amazing specimen and thank you!
This is exactly what MFK needed. One thread where we can look for specific info and pics. I've also got some SB's if anyone is interested in seeing those...

Thank you. I would love to see them!

Yeah sorry, i might have made that confusing, but yes I will be getting a 6 pack tomorrow morning. They will be housed in my new 125 with 3 3" red mammon (one died shipping, waiting for replacement). I'm a little worried about the size difference but I have some good hiding places for them until they can get a little bigger. One of the mammon, named nightmare (for obvious reasons) is definitely the dominant out of the 3, so she's the main concern. I'm hoping it's a female, I believe they tend to be the aggressors.
