That makes sense. I love these fish though, when are you going to be picking that one up?

Should be some point this weekend, its been INSANELY cold around here lately so we haven't wanted to risk it even though his house is like 10 mins away, the only time we both are available due to work and such is after midnight. Warmest its been since he got it has been like -20 F lol. I've literally had to dress like I'm going snowboarding to work in a bar!

I can't wait to pick him up, he seems miserable in that tank. I try to give the guy tips to improve his setup for the fish he likes (mainly bichirs and pike-like fish), it looks like there should be a small reef in it its so bright haha. Barely any plastic plants as well. His WC schedule is also in question lol. I love fish that are so spangled and brightly colored, hopefully he doesn't decide to kill the fem festae at one point. I'll be doing the whole egg crate thing so she has an area to escape to.

If it works out for sure Gus lol. I didn't want to sell em to an LFS so they could just make up some random name further muddying things up, just to my friends and people on here

Yeah, winter is almost over in my neck of the woods and it can't come soon enough. I did successfully get 10 fish shipped to me through it from a state over though, so I guess it wasn't too bad. update us when you get him in your tank! Good luck with the egg crate divider.

An update on these little guys. They are growing quite fast and are developing some nice coloration!

So my biggest texas, Rupert, looks like he paired up with one of my mammons! I'm waiting things out to see what happens but they have pretty obviously formed a pair. Does anyone know how old these Texas have to be to breed? The texas are still quite small and I didn't expect this to happen, so I'm just interested in the likelihood of a successful spawn. My mammon, Heart is her name, Is totally robbing the cradle because she is easily twice the size of Rupert.

I have been enjoying this thread so I thought I would put mine up. She is growing fast and eats like a pig. I think she is carpintis and I think it is a she because of the black on the dorsal what do you think?

I love all the pics of Texas posted especially the Escondido. I was hoping for an Escondido but I am really happy with the this little girl the light blue and grey I think looks nice.
