I've pretty much already tried that and it hasn't worked so much.I have one one fish in the 75 and 5 young dovii and 2 axolotyls(1" or so) in the other.I clean the tank multiple times every week and use algaefix but that is so harsh on the fish. Also, both tanks dont get touched by any sunlight at all.
how long have you tried this for

ur right!!

now answer my questions, so we can figure out whats causing the problem!

ill even repeat them!

what are ur water parameters? I keep them both around 76 degrees and the ph is in the high 7's on both

filtration? Rena xp4 on the 75 and xp3 on the 54

water change regime? 30% or so once every weekend

lighting and light duration? Dual 4' plant and aquarium bulbs on the 75 and the same but 2' on the 54 only running one bulb each in the last month(bought at home depot)

is the tank near lots of windows? No sunlight whatsoever
The answers are in your quote box. Thanks

If there are no live plants in the tank, just leave the lights off for a couple of weeks.Keep up with the water changes, don't overfeed, and the algae should die off without the energy from the tank lights.

But before you put fish back in,rinse it out several times, and let it air dry completely,to make sure any bleach evaporates.I would then rinse it again and let it dry again myself. But I'm kind of paranoind when it comes to bleach and fish.

Man,I'd say a good two months or so...

no wonder you panicked and bleached your tank, but in all truth it sounds like something in the water you are using is causing this algae outbreak because having two tanks with this is issue is not a coincidence. I suppose you are using tap water for water changes?? Test the water from the tap and let us know the parameters

Yeah, its frustrating to me and especially my girlfriend and thats not cool.I haven't checked the tap water yet,I'll definitely do that tomorrow and let you know.

why not posting some pics of your tanks, and where you locate them, as well as the filtration you use, so that we can see it. Perhaps some answers could come up.
cheers

it sounds like ur doing everything ok!

with that being said, u probably just have a build up of excess nutrients in the water column. try doing more water changes, less feeding, and cut down on the light.

if ur short on cash u could always use purigen. $10 will cure ur green water problems and purigen is rechargeable, u will never need to buy a new pack.

hope this helps.
