I HAVE HAD A ESTABLISHED 30GALLON TANK FOR QUITE SOMETIME,BUT RECENTLY TORE DOWN TO DO AQUASCAPING W/LIVE PLANTS,BUT I'M HAVE A BAD PROBLEM WITH THE GREEN WATER,THE DAY AFTER I PUT THE WATER IN, IT WAS GREEN NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM BEFORE,I JUST ADDED SOME PLANTS,I AM ONLY RUNNING A PLECO UNTIL IT IS ESTABLISHED AND GOT RID OF MY BIG FISH TO SWITCH OVER,WOULD THAT HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH IT, I ADDED MORE FILTERS I'M RUNNING 2 HOB FILTERS ONE TEN GALLON AND A PEGUIN 330 AND THEN A AQUACLEAR 30 POWERHEAD,AND I'M RUNNING ABOUT 2.6WPG ON THE LIGHT, LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE ANY IDEAS, THANKS:WHOA::nilly:

YA THAT UV STERILIZER WORK GREAT BUT ITS LIKE ALMOST 200 BUCKS. YOU CAN ALSO BUY A LIQUID CALLED ALGE DESTROYER. WORKS GREAT AND YOU CAN EVEN FIND IT AT WALMART. WORKED FOR MY 110G . I COULDNT EVEN SEE THE BACK OF THE TANK. I ALMOST TORE THE HOLE TANK DOWN TO START ALL OVER. BUT THANKS TO MY LFS, I DIDNT. WORKS GREAT AND ITS SAFE ALL FISH AND PLANTS

OH YA THAT ONE THE OTHER GUY SHOWED YOU IS A CHEAP ONE. ALSO WHEN YOU HAVE TO REPLACE THE BULBS, BE READY TO PAY THOSE 200 AGAIN. BULBS ARE WAY OVER PRICED. ALSO HEARD THAT THEY LEAK AND SHORT OUT OFTEN. CHEAP ONES THAT IS.

If you want to solv GW without useing chemicals do a large WC, and kill the lights...and reduce how long your lights are on each day. Dose your tank recive direct sunlight? If your looking for a permanent cure with some benifits, Go down to petsmart/petco and pick up a Magnum 350 and an extra micron cartrige. My mag cleared my 90 that was filled with pea soup in a couple hrs, swap in the new cartrige while you clean the other one. Now I run it all the time b/c in all honesty its prob the best particulate filter on the market other than a ditom filter.

Let's uhh use nicer words. Kids get on this site.

I would go with the water changes when my turns green and it does sometimes I do a 25 percent water change every other day until its clear again. Once the plants are established they will use up all the nutriants that the algea is feeding on and you shoukldent have this problem. Macro photosenthusis (spelling) over micro sort of thing. All the routs suggested will work though.

My 2 cents.

Still having green water problems never had this before,I tore the whole tank down and started over within three days its back to being green, I have a penguin 330, aqua tech 10 and a aqua clear 30w/sponge running in my 30 gallon I dont get why its doing this, The only thing I've done different is added a couple more plants and got rid of my GT,because I'm going with more of a community tank,I've even done the seachem clarity which I have always had good luck with any suggestion would be great

As Monsterup said Algae Destroyer made by API works.
