U need three neon tetras max in a 55. Those fish are to big for anything less than 300.

300 for those? Come on, that's way overkill. Bioload wise 100 is enough for all - red devil. The 55 is good enough for 6 month to a year, again minus the red devil.

I have to dissagre with pretty much everyone here. I say yes, you will be grossly overstocked. IMO, you need a 55 purely for the JD or the GT (alone!). So having a FM (you'll likely end up with only one because the smaller looks malnourished and will soon be picked off) and a Con with them both is way too much. As for the RD, everyone has said it, it will turn phsyco one day.
So IMO, you shouldpock one ofthe following:
- Keep the FM('s) and the Con. Get rid of the rest.
- Keep the GT. (If it's male*) Get rid of the rest.
- Keep the JD. (If it's male*) Get rid of the rest.
- Keep the RD. Get rid of the rest.
You don't have to neccessarily remove them all now, but if you wished to keep the RD then I would. It's always good to have a plan of stock before executing, otherwise you end up with a jumble of fish and an overstocked tank.
*If the GT or JD are female you could add more tank mates. They could both stay or any combination of them FM and Convict.
Just my thoughs![]()
Definitely some good advice here, i think the devil in a 75 would be sweet along with like 4 more red-tailed black sharks to add some movement and dithers. As for the rest the female con could pretty much go wherever, I would get rid of the smaller firemouth because the larger one will boss him around unless you get a tank larger than 75 gallons. But If you could i think that the 125 idea is a good one for the JD, GT, larger Fm and con. I even think you could possibly get away with a 75 for them because firemouths are wimpy and shouldn't cause problems once the others outgrow him. Just get some type of schooling fish as dithers in there too to lessen the aggression as well as plenty of hiding places for each fish. You have plenty of time though to figure all that out. the most pressing issue as already stated is moving the RD.
You want him to put a RD in a 75 with 5 red tailed sharks as dithers?
That is a horrible idea and a disaster waiting to happen.
