Run into any parked trucks lately? Thats always an ego buster! LOL! Sorry man, couldn't resist! lol

Geez Jed!! I can't imagine paying for all those heaters!! Crazy electric bill! I think my three 400watts is bad enough!

yeah I'm very amazed at how tiny of a heater Ted uses to heat that sucker. It's just amazing especially when we live in WA and it gets cold up here!

I guess if you keep the water circulated it won't freeze over. Does he have it so that the water pumps to a heater inside the house and then pumped back out to the tank? LOL! He should just get a furnace and have some copper pipes running through it that are part of the filtration system!! That would be a great way to heat it! Cheap (firewood), efficient, and you can roast marshmellows while you watch the fish! SCORE!

Insulation is the key. To put it into perspective of how effective it can be. Last winter I had a 100G in my garage. It's partially insulated. Meaning the walls are but the garage doors aren't. I didn't add any insulation on that tank and just to keep the tank at 76 degrees I had about 1500watts runningg 24/7 on that 100G!!!!!

Ted has some serious insulation on his 8000G!

What kind(s) of insulation does Ted use?

2300w to heat 8k gallons in WA is amazing..

Damm I have more heaters than ted does running two ponds off of one system but of course mine doesnt have insulated 2x12 walls

and del I thought you were about educating people not bashing them, I wasnt trying to bash you just state an honest opinion and yes del said I could take his aro just so she was in a bigger home but the logistics would have been a nightmare on both us and the fish

So Del, if I can find a great home for your arow in one of the best privately owned tank in the SoCal region, would you let it live the rest of it's life there? You can even view it online 24/7.

If you don't know who's tank I'm talking about by now let me know. I already asked him and he's willing to give it a good home.

This should be a no brainer question for you.
