I still need to get some decent pics of the Jau, Juruense...and some other newbies ;)

Hope the planiceps don't eat the filas in the up coming months.... hahaha jk Laz.

lol...nah, Ill seperate them...already had to seperate the Jau, they've quadrupled in size. All came in at 3" on average.

Nice cats!

Great looking pics Laz! Nice to see a shoal of monster cats. If your Fila's are the same size as the Planiceps I'd watch out, lost a Planiceps to my Fila already...so now the Fila is in a time out tank (floating mini tank in my 240)

Those Jau are NASTY! Don't want to be mixing them with the Fila's or Planiceps thats for sure, they will kill them.

How many Planiceps did you keep?
How many Fila's?
What are the tank specs they are growing out in? Temp? pH? Gallons? Hardness?

I need to get in touch with you on PM at some point, I'm conducting some research of sorts on both of them with a little more focus on the Planiceps and would love some input from you as well.

Yeah...only took 7-8 bad shots for every passable one..lol.

PM away.

The Fila and Planiceps were same size coming in...Planiceps are atleast double at this point. The jau were smaller than everyone and are now bigger/thicker than everyone. They were getting very territorial about their hiding spots. I keep the tank at a low pH...6.5 or so. Temp is 80º. I had them a little higher but the Fila weren't liking it. Current tank is 75 gal. Jau tank is 30 gal.

I keep the grow out tank stocked with guppies, rosy reds, and small goldfish feeders as well as ghost shrimp. Little of everything. Tank is very well oxygenated, and gets a 30% water change once a week.

The biggest influence has been keeping the tank dark. I have lights off, and the sides covered with cardboard. The fish are calm, but active and always with their bellies full. I just turn on the light and check on them when I feed Blood worms in the AM and evening.

The Planiceps will be moving to a 190 gallon tuffstuff tub soon to continue growing out, as they grow quickly...the Fila's will probably be a while.

I kept 6 fila, and 6 Planiceps for myself.
