  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
BTW, Everytime Ive seen the Planiceps eat live has been during water changes. They keep their cool as if the water change is not intrusive at all...they take advantage of the panicked feeders.

...Planiceps are atleast double at this point. I keep the tank at a low pH...6.5 or so. Temp is 80º. I had them a little higher but the Fila weren't liking it.

I keep the grow out tank stocked with guppies, rosy reds, and small goldfish feeders as well as ghost shrimp. Little of everything. Tank is very well oxygenated, and gets a 30% water change once a week.

The biggest influence has been keeping the tank dark. I have lights off, and the sides covered with cardboard. The fish are calm, but active and always with their bellies full. I just turn on the light and check on them when I feed Blood worms in the AM and evening.

Very nice. I noticed my Planiceps not liking anything over about 78 thus far, they seemed to stress a little bit even with plenty of o2 in the water so I've been in the 76-78 range. My Fila is in the 76-78 range also in my 240 and so far doing okay in its time out tank.

Your water parameters and growing conditions seem to be similar to what I'm doing at the moment. My lights are off 18-20hrs a day and only on for a couple hours at night for me to check on them and when I've been feeding bloodworms. pH is 6.5-6.7 and I've got rosies and ghost shrimp readily available in the tank at all times.

I'd say my Planiceps are getting close to double their original size, they were roughly 2" when I got them from you and the biggest is probably pushing 4" now.

Post some pics of the Jau when you get a chance!

Wow! That is an impressive shoal of monsters!!!

Thanks guys. I havent even tried to take pics of the Jau. They're always hiding and only see them for seconds at a time.

The last two pics are of a particular Fila. It's the only one with the black speckling on all its finnage. All the others have clear finnage. Found that interesting.
