funny thing i posted almost this exact post in one of his threads...

my threads or davids?

I was there when the transaction took place. Fishaddict inspected the fish for at least 5 minutes, he liked them, paid Ryan, than drove off. Also, he posted a thread (http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=309872) mentioning how happy he was with the datnoids.
I was over Ryan's today and all of his dats are stable and eating. Obviously there was something wrong with your tank/water/acclimation.

Tank:55g-cycled for at least 6 months prior to getting datnoids/low light/heavy filtration
water: ammonia: 0.0ppm
nitrite: 0.0ppm
nitrate: 10ppm
pH: 7.4
They were acclimated for an hour via drip acclimation. The two that died were the ones that were hiding. I thought it was just their personality. But the next day they were dead. So they were sick upon arrival. There is no way a fish can get a disease and die 24 hours later.

PH Shock.... A fish could die in a minute.
How long did you drip for? And gill fluke? Did you actually look at the die fishes gills or did you just buried them?

And I'm pretty sure Ryan didn't spend countless days picking out fish that had a disease just to give to you. To much time and effort to waste, I think.

Baby dats are extremely sensitive No need to bash a seller for your mistakes. Daily water changes definate no with fish this fragile. You should have put them in a small tank with not heavy filtration unless you bought 50 of them then obviously you would need the room. Start out with blackworms to pump them up then start onto other means of diet. Other people have gotten a bunch of these baby dats including me. When they are this small you should expect to lose some. No need to start a thread about it. Move on and find something for constructive to do with your time. I'm tired of seeing all of your bs threads on the site. I don't usually say much but come on if we all started threads on how a fish died that we bought off someone this site would be worthless

Fishaddict, its sounds like your water is fine.

I put it down to few things..

1) daily waterchanges is too much, BABY dats need stable water conditions. (i.e. a stable 30 ppm nitrate, is better than say 20 ppm - fluctuating between 40 pmm over a week, due to daily wc's.
2) transporting baby dats is very stressful on the fish
3) medicating when perhaps it was not necessary
4) putting the sick one in a 2g
5) no need to panic when they dont eat for a few days (even at that size)

Hopefully the ones left will grow into monsters ;)

When all the threads started regarding baby tigers flooding the market,
I did post a while ago, saying that..."expect to loose up to 30% due to shipping/disease etc." (This happened to me 3 years ago with thinbars)

How many other factors have you fictionalized?

That's still relatively new. Perhaps not fully cycled... That could explain why....

Oh dear.....

WTF????? i was estimating, i didn't go and check!! The tank is fully cycled, if i can keep polys alive in it i should be able to keep dats alive in it as well

Brian warned you about Dats now you killed them and its your fault. J/P:grinno:. A little truth behind every joke right? Hopefully you have learned a little bit more about baby dats and I hope they become so big they out grow your 55 tank.;)
