And rabbit cages can be used for tortoises.

If noone believes me, and thinks im wrong you can go to www.repticzone.com < they all say rabbit cages are fine to use.
so are half a dozen cages too.

the sides are fine. russians and hermanns shells dont get high, so they wont see that far above the sides.

Lol, ok well have BWB show you some of his pics. The tortoises are clearly trying to escape.

If I am not mistaken, most professionals recommend the height to be at least 1.5 times the total length of the tortoise to prevent things like that from happening. Most rabbit cage trays are only 2"-4" tall.

So, Bruce here is looking at a height of 16" at the most for his adults.

Yes, most prof's will recommend that, but i never do.
the sides just have to be at least 3 inches above the tortoises shell so they cant see over.
my pair always climb the sides...their only a couple of inches tall themselves, my cage tray is 5 inches tall.

I have seen many photos of his enclosures..in other threads.
Most tortoises try and climb sides of their enclosures, whether its a rabbit cage, or whatever else!

You're missing the point. If you know as much as you claim you do, then you would not recommend an enclosure where the tortoise can see out. That site is one site, there are probably many, many more that totally do not agree with that. If the tort can't see out, he's not going to really try to get out.

www.shelledwarriors.co.uk <<they recommended me a Rabbit cage.
www.repticzone.com <<so did they
www.tortoisetrust.org <<i emailed and they said rabbit cage is fine.

And no offence to you or anyone, but TT are more experianced and know more than most people.

I know alot on hermanns and russian tortoises, any other species im goggle it because i dont study other species just yet.

but it is a known fact hermanns and russians can be in a rabbit cage.

The sides should be higher than the tortoises shell so they cant see out of it yes! but what im trying to say if the sides are high enough, and the tortoises cant see out whats the problem with a rabbit cage?

my tortoises cant see out of their sides, their to small for it, but they still climb the sides as if to escape..

It might be ok if it was much bigger and the sides were higher. BWB's tortoises are always trying to escape because they can see out. Rabbit cages are made for rabbits.

I already said it would be ok if the sides were higher.;) A rabbit cage might work when they are small but not for life. Plus why buy a rabbit cage? It costs a lot more then one you could just build yourself, plus there's a lot of wasted space. I'm a big fan of avoiding overpriced purchases at pet store when you can DIY.

I only had to deal with a rabbit cage because of my parents, they wont allow rubbermaids or table tops.

But a rabbit cage is an alternative for any aged tortoise.

Hey guys, you can keep them in whatever you want, they're your tortoises.

You can't own a rubbermaid tub? They are awesome, cheap turtle enclosures that I highly recommend for most species of turtles.
