I know I said my last post will be my last post but I thought I would update here....
my ebjd passed away this morning from an incident that happened yesterday.
I was doing multiple things at once to several tanks, all on my lunch break (so I was rushed)
in the process I was testing one of my smaller tanks with prazipro has I have new fish. I was also at the same time feeding the fish in my 130g tank and changing water in another tank...I placed the open prazipro bottle on top of the 130g tank when I was done dosing the other tank and proceeded to tend the tank with the water change.
My cat jumped up to drink out of the 130g tank, the dog ran for the cat and startled him causing him to knock the prazipro into the 130g tank...all the commotion caused my fish to dart around in the tank and my ebjd swam through a heavy dose of prazipro before I could get it out of the tank.
he immediately spazzed out and started drifting in the tank, freaking out I scooped him into my 10g of non treated water but I believe it was already to late.I think his gills got burned from the medication...he was barely alive but his gills were still processing air.
I gave him a night in the clean water to see if he would recover and he did not. I’m quite gutted with myself right now.
on a side note in the process of moving him from tank to tank he stabbed me with his fin rays and caused one of my fingers to turn blue, so on top of losing my favourite fish I now have to go to the doctor to ensure I myself do not get an infection.
