growth food

What I did to optimize growth while still having a fish that had great colors/ finnage/ etc was with 3 feedings a day. All I fed were some high protein pellets and the occasional feeder guppies/ ghost shrimps. Along with that, I did daily 50% water changes, sometimes 75% or if I missed a day, 90%. My jag went from little more than 1" to 5" in less than 3 months in a 10 gallon grow out. And no, it wasn't stunted at all. :)

I want to hear more about earthworms as a nutritional/growth food. I feed mealworms (beetle larvae) as well. Those are the only live foods I use, but I use them as treats and not a daily staple.

Wow, I read '50% daily' and was wondering how you could keep up. Then I read the tank size...:D

I feed earthworms if I can find them, but mostly I just feed a variety of pellets and frozen brine shrimp/shrimp

personally, i like watching my fish grow , whats the rush in having them big so fast, if you want the big fish pay the big bucks. thats how i see it at least

Lol, it was still a pain cause I had to use a bowl to scoop water out. :D Didn't have a python then, lol.

It depends on the fish. With my GT, he grows so slow I can hardly tell a difference from one month to another. Other cichlids grow so quick I think trying to make them grow even faster is unnecessary.

That's fine if you can find the species you are chasing.Sometimes the only option is to buy juveniles. One reason for wanting them to put on size fast is so you can introduce them to an established tank without them being food for larger fish.:)

True im actaully going through that problem with a trio of Uaru im growing out.. it will take them a long long time before they are ready

you have new baby red devils,? i think you did just great with your others.

I definitely recommend Hikari Bio Gold and I also recommend using Hikari Excel for some vegetable matter. Feed them some frozen bloodworms and krill (frozen or freeze dried) as a treat. Your fish should grow and growwwwww.
