i dont understand why some people have problems growing these fish. i had them and my female hit 9 inches in a year and half(guestamate). my buddy seen mine and wanted one i gave him what i thought was a stunted 3 incher and now his is as large as mine currently both 10 inches. mine grew quick all i did was feed blood worms flakes and pellets about 3 times a day with 50 percent water change once a week. i sold the remainders at the time i didnt want a male but now wish i kept one.

some grow averagely, and some grow slow. I've had both.
So these are not known for being faster growers. I have a male was reaching 8" short by a mm. Now two months later, he's 8.25". To me that's good growth luckily. I have him in 135g with smaller fish.

There is really so much that comes into play with growth rate one could write a short story book on it. Long story short - Genetics, Dom. status, water quality, quality of foods, amount of foods consumed, water volume, dissolved oxygen volume, stress, disease, bacteria, salinty levels for homiostasis, current, filtration rates, levels of C02, competition, activity.................etc, etc,
Festae in 150gal will have better growth rates than ones grown in 30gals
