What would be an average or expected rate of growth for a Motoro Ray? I know conditions can affect this but what have you guys seen, your experiences? Thanks, Arkangel77

Well what I read and people told me about a foot the first year and males grow slowly from there and females until 18" or so. That's what I heard.

I can tell you this I have a motoro for a month or so and it was a month old when I got it and it's about 6-7" now. For being two months old and growing this fast was not expecting it. They're both males.

I have a male that's said to be a year old at 10" and fully rolled so I'd say anything is possible.

they can breed at a year and a half old to two years old. usually by then females are around 12-14" maybe bigger. males will usually still be around 10-12" at same age.
at 3-4 years old females can get up to around 18-20"+ range.

My first pair bred right at 2 years old and female was around 12" or so where male was about 10".

the Male is 9-10" has rolled clasper's and was a wild caught fish (he has only bin in the states maybe 5 month or less).

The female he has had for 3 years and the guy before him had her for a year. That's all I know and she is a lil smaller than the male. She seems healthy (body mass) but she is not large. I know that she had a run in with a pleco that did a Lot of damage to her disk 2-3 years back. Her disk is healed although its kinda raggedy on the edges. just dont understand why she is not larger? My only guess is maybe tank is too small and not enough feedings? I have no Idea???

I think they will still grow in a smaller tank. How big is your tank and how much do you feed yours? My male motoro have packed so much weight and in disk size in 1 month of me owning it its insane. I did feed twice a day 6-10 pieces of tilapia. Now I feed once a day of 10-15 pieces of tilapia. 2 month old motoro males both at least 5-6.5". I got at 4-5" and in one month grew more than an inch . One is smaller but not by that much.

Mine do not even have those sharp pointy barbs in yet.

its by Buddies fish and I think the tank was like 135 or something. No Idea how much he was feeding and I am not even sure he was keeping it supa clean. When I saw them the Tank water was TAN in color. Maybe - it is a combination of things, feeding, tank size, cleanliness ??? He is moving her/them into a larger tank and I think they will start getting more attention. we will see if that helps.
