I've got a Green Terror and a JD in a 45 Gallon Tall tank. I can't find a tankmate that they will let live. I had a Buttikoferi that they killed, they killed one of my Venustus' last night so I took the other out. Now it is just them in the tank together. I would like to be able to put one other fish in there with them. Any opinions?

BTW I'm new to the site and love every minute of it so far:headbang2

You should not put any more tank mates in there. The tank is already fully stocked with those fish, in fact you might think about getting them a 55 gallon. Longer tanks are better for those types of fish as they need more space for territories. They will kill anything else you put in because ther is not enough territory they may even kill one another when they get bigger.

I have to agree. If the gt is a male, he will probably need a 55gallon tank to himself. They might be ok for a while, depending on what size they are now, but eventually they will need a larger tank.

I actually just spoke to a friend who is giving me a 75 Gallon. Once I put them in there could I possibly add another fish?

75 should be perfect for those two fish. I've had good luck with Salvini cichlids, but some people consider them very, very agressive. They have amazing coloration... Bright yellow and orange, with black striping. I have a GT, JD, Salvini, and a firemouth all going into a 90 in a few weeks.

Maybe a pair of firemouths... but that could really shake things up if they form a mating pair

You might be able to get away with another tankmate or two in the 75 gallon, but nothing right now.......Maybe some cons in the 75?

i was going to say cons to, cons hold ground, just get a pair, they protect there eggs though, but convicts are great fish i have 2 in 35, i had to put my red devil in there for an hour had him cornered, and hes pretty big.

it really depends on the size of the GT and JD. If they are still small then Cons would definitely not be a swell idea

Here are a few pictures of the little Terror. I believe he's a male but not too sure.
