I have had a GT in a community tank for about a month now just amongst neons, angels gouramis etc. I had decided I wanted to move the community fish and get another "monster fish" I went to my local supplier in which I buy everything from and asked him for some suggestions. He suggested the JD. I had been reading mixed opinions on these for days now.

I got one so now I have a male JD and a male GT both around the 3inch size. But since I have put my JD in with my GT all my GT has done is harrass him to pieces. Will this stop? At the moment my JD is hiding up behind the powerhead. Am I going to have to take him back? I don't want him to bashed to his death.

Green Terrors are always mean and tear stuff up. I always laugh when I'm at the LFS and I see the terrors cuz almost always ever one in the tank has F-up fins from fighting and stuff. Jacks I find are always a toss up though on how they behave. I have had a few that hid all the time and are scared of everything and I have had some that don't take crap from anyone. How big is the tank? You could try getting another JD maybe if you have the space. My terror used to beat up on an oscar that was twice his size untill I got more oscars and he was out numbered and left them alone. But, like I said Jacks are kinda goofy sometimes they are all different.

i have a female JD that has laid eggs with a sterile male EBJD... he gets beat up worse and worse by her each time there is no hatchings

the only way to know if they are compatible for certain is due to what you have done and test it out....however it is now a judement call for you if you think they just need to warm up to each other or if the fish is in danger of being killed

I have also read in numerous places that raising the tank temp up sometimes help reduce aggression amongst tank mates. But then you need to make sure you have plenty of surface agitation to keep oxygen levels up. Another idea that has worked for me before is to take both fish out and rearrage the furniture in the tank. Then put the jack back in for a while by himself and then put the terror back in. If this works the jack should establish territory and and assume dominance in the tank. Might work might not. Easy to do so i think it might be worth a shot.

The re aranging of the tank sounds like an idea. Pain in the butt as I only done a complete re arangement of it today when I took out the community fish lol. Well I will take out my GT and put him in with the community fish for a day or 2 and let my JD have th tank to himself and see how he goes. I would hate for him to get killed or for me to have to take him back as I have taken a liking to him.

Raising the temp usually increases aggression in my experience.

I would rearrange the tank then add the gt first, think I read on here a week ago about jd and order of adding them into tank. I have 2 gt and 2 jd juvies in a 100g tank they get along fine of course thats prob cause some cons have fry in the tank lol.
